Bonjour mon amis!
This is officially the first Sunday in which I have awoken before noon (though, to maintain at least some of my credit, every other day consists of getting up at 6:20 =0)...hit a couple of bars this week & must say they are oh so very good/attractive here (even the seemingly "hole-in-the-walls"...but then again being from Cal, we understand the winsomeness of such places, no?) I am not a big fan of the soju here (in contrast to just about everyone else) buuuuut I LUV LUV LUV the cocktail sojus! Some places here put real fruit (so it just tastes like smoothies wheeee) so it's so easy just to down a pitcher....you see, the problem with most drinks...they just taste too...what's the word....alcoholic...? =P
Hit Rodeo Drive this week a couple of times...must say it's not as "posh" as one would expect (it pretty much looks like any other part of Apgujeong)...there's a bar called "An" (which is "peace" in Chinese) which gives off a palace-like feel inside with its walls (friend & I couldn't help touching the walls, which of course only added to our veneer of sophistication and culture I'm sure)...they have the beeeest strawberry soju (doesn't have that "weird" taste hahaaa)...I've realized here in Korea they really know how to make their chicken (some sort of clandestine recipe or chicken feed that we in the U.S. do not know about??)...plus I find the K-BBQ sauce so much sweeter/yummier than the rich outback kind at home...I am so thankful for my unnies & other Korean-speaking friends here for helping me get around....went to one bar recently where neither of us spoke Korean...the entire menu was in Korean (which is most reasonable given we are in Korea)...think of my trying to mime out different fruits/seafood to figure out what the menu offered...how the hell do you mime strawberry?? Squid was easier...though also laughable
Hit a place called "Rabat", which is named after the capital of Morrocco...some of the sweetest people own that place & work there...the inside decor reminds one of Arabian Nights...the owner is sooooo sweet/beautiful...we invited her to drink with us...she joined though didn't drink since she was pregnant (after which we followed with profuse apologies)...this is her second child & seriously, she looks like she should be a movie star....the waiters are adoree-ble...invited them for several rounds of love shots (they weren't pregnant)...one even came into our booth (by the way, there are mini-booths here with drapes above & to the sides separating different parties) & performed magic tricks...then they offered chocolate hookah (which smells incredible! But given my stunted sense of smell/taste, I couldn't taste much booo)....
Finally checked out one of the popular trance clubs here (apparently they are all the rage right now)....looked into Club Answer, though admittedly the music does sound the same the entire night...it's fun for a while but afterwards one gets tired of rockin' to the same beat...one benefit of not speaking Korean here is you can use it as an excuse for rejection...
My friend & I are still striving to get on a music show...2NE1 is back promoting new songs...aaaaaaaah need to attend to my K-pop fix! Grrrr little fanclub members who usurp all the tickets....don't they have school.....(though I have work, but of course that is so very different...lol)
That's all for now.

Deja Vu
Chillin'/preppin' at a cafe like last week after catchin' the first subway at 5:40 again...certainly much more refreshed this time around wheee (see? training my body to become used to good habits)
Payday payday! Went shoppin' in Coex (big indoor shopping centre w/ famous MegaBox cineplex)...bought yellow eyeglass frames (perhaps inspired by the fashions of 2NE1...we'll see how they fly in the States)...hit Myong Dong yesterday after work (expansive indoor/outdoor district with lights! shops! action!)...found a few dresses that fit well but conflicts arose (either they would not let me try the clothes on....or once I did, they proved see-through. Yay!)...finally found one that fit well so of course, bought it & walked out the store wearing it...on our way back to Kangnam on way to a bar ran into a few of our students...in an ideal world teachers & students could be real friends with mutual respect and clear communication but since we don't live in a real word, awkward haven yaaaay...okay, so not that awkward but more of my obvious attempts to ditch them, leaving my friend/colleague in crime to chat them up...
The bar food is deeeelish here...but then again, pretty much any meat cooked into a ball of gooey-fried-goodness in some sort of sweet/spicy sauce would please the palate...I heart strawberry soju....afterwards roamed the beautifully radiant streets for some street games...these ranged from BB-gun shooting (for a long time couldn't find the hole from the backside....uh oh...that's what he....joooking :P), punching bag-one-"shot-ting" (to prove one's masculinity of course, which you all know how strongly I believe in such important values...funny thing is I tried it a couple of times...walked away feeling pretty "manly" given my close-to-highest-score...in my newly purchased dress and heels... =P), soccer one-kicking, dart-throwing & the likes....Kangnam dong certainly never fails to entertain even on your way from one entertainment venue to another....hit up Hookah bar (scraped my ankle climbing the steps & in the dark it looked beastly...thankfully the bathroom light revealed it to be much milder) & salsa club (damn, watching the dancers...some of them moved so smoothly...as if they were constantly moonwalking across the floor....RIP M.J.)
Work is going well :) The students are hard-working, though they certainly have their moments of indolence & trying to get out of as much work as they can...I've observed a sort of "stuck in a rut" attitude...a form of living unconsciously...I find myself wondering if this happens to most people in their daily life due to the repetitive onslaught of obligations/challenges...I can't help but feel a bit sad about the thought....
Ah, sorry, the above was bits of a stream of broken consciousness...oh oh so many of you know how much I LUUUV music, foreign music in particular recently...highly highly recommend Utada Hikaru's This is the One album (yes, I realize it has been out for quite some time but then again, speed was never quite my forte in this field), particularly the tracks "Apple & Cinnanmon", "Come Back to Me", "Dirty Desire", & "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence"....amaaaaaaazing!

P.S. Apparently peeps around me have all seen stars...such as Hyori, Lee Min Ho, Yoona from SNSD, Wonder Girls, etc.....where the hell was I??? *Sigh*...DBSK is still in Japan completely their tour now in Tokyo Dome...
